Green Tea
The delicate notes of a Green Tea:
Green teas are made from unoxidized leaves. It has a delicate taste and light green color.
It is often associated with health benefits such as:
Improved Heart Health
Weight management
Enhanced Brain Function
This is due to its high antioxidant content which prevents cell damage which lowers the risk of chronic diseases.
Minty Green Mixture: (1 Cup, 8 ounces)
Prep your water: (unless using an infuser)
A lot of sites will tell you to decide on what to blend and ready your tea leaves first, but I think it’s best to start your water first.
Put the water on a light flame if you can, for this cup the ideal temperature is just before boiling approximately 175~185 degrees F so that the delicate leaves don’t burn.
Prepare your blend:
Now that your water is on you will need 2 teaspoons of the blend.
If you are using teabags then prep your teabags (if needed) and arrange in mug or cup
If you are using an infuser put the blend in the infuser first then add water then heat.
If you are using a pot with a strainer it doesn’t matter if placed before or after, but be aware the longer the blend is steeped the stronger the brew and green tea is meant to be a lighter brew.
Steeping instructions:
For green tea the ideal steeping time is approximately 2-3 minutes. You will want to separate the blend from the water after this time has lapsed. for a stronger blend let steep for 5 minutes
Make it your own:
This blend already comes with peppermint, but a few teaspoons of honey (I enjoy a sweeter flavor profile so I add about 3), a slice of lemon (I do not add lemon as I find it often overpowers the brew), and some pure cane sugar are very popular adds to this blend. Milk is typically not enjoyed with any green teas as it changes the flavor profile.
